About me
Meet Nerys
Hi, I am Nerys Lloyd-George, I’m a qualified Soft Tissue Therapist and Biomechanic Trainer. I studied at Oxford School of Massage where I achieved a Level 5 BTEC Diploma and with biomechanics education. My clinic SMART (Sports Massage and Remedial Therapy) Treatment is based in Epsom, Surrey.
I have always had a passion in sport and having injuries and niggles when training for a variety of events has led to countless hours of research to find the answer. This interest in helping myself and others has led me down this path to achieve these qualifications and has further enhance my knowledge.
I am very passionate about getting to the root of the problem and getting my clients back to doing everyday life things with minimum or no discomfort. Every person I see have different personal goals and I pride myself on delivering and helping each one achieve these goals. The bespoke programmes and packages which I offer are individually tailored. Just to include a few examples, I have helped clients get back to pain free running, reduce back issues, gain more energy, keep up when playing with the kids and be in best possible shape for a competition, just training down the gym or do the housework. I always go that extra mile for my clients to deliver the best experience possible. I don’t believe in providing endless treatments and wasting your money however further treatment and a home care programme will be required to aid your recovery.
I have gained extensive knowledge and experience working alongside elite sport medical teams with Charlton Athletic Ladies and currently work at London Irish RFC.
I look forward to helping you.

Soft tissue therapy is used in the treatment of minor and chronic musculoskeletal conditions and lessen the soft tissue discomfort associated with everyday occupational stresses. Soft tissue therapy utilises a variety of techniques that manipulates soft tissue through specific application of pressure, combined with mobilisation of the associated joints. It is utilised in order to release hypertonic muscles, scar tissue, lesions and adhesions present within the tissue. It works on the facia, muscles, ligaments and tendons. Soft tissue therapy, if used early enough after an accident, trauma or injury, can reduce the development of painful muscle pattern.
Soft tissue therapy can be used with clients presenting overuse injury through sport or from a physically demanding job, poor posture to accidents such as slipping on the floor, physical and emotional stress, illness and post surgery. They can also be used in pre and post events.
Soft tissue therapy can be used on anyone.
Soft Tissue benefits:
- Improve Range of motion and flexibility
- Breakdown of adhesions and scar tissue
- Increase/decrease muscle tone
- Improve postural awareness
- Prevent and detect possible injury
- Identify causes
- Increase recovery after training and aid rehabilitation
- Part of a training regime
- Return to full function after surgery/accidents/falls
- Correct muscle imbalances.
- Deactivate trigger points

Sports massage is a form of massage involving the manipulation of soft tissue to benefit a person engaged in regular physical activity. It is designed to assist in correcting problems and imbalances in soft tissue that are caused from repetitive and strenuous physical activity and trauma. Soft tissue release technique releases local areas of severe soft tissue tension. It can be applied to release areas of scar tissue and adhesions and restore elasticity to muscles.
Benefits of using STR:
- Breaks down the adhesions and realigns the muscle fibres.
- Elongate hypertonic muscles and facia therefore improving the range of motion.
- Balance will be restored and can help to assist with postural issues.
- Targets the problem and aids a quicker recovery.
- Can be used in conjunction with rehabilitation of the muscle as the muscle is being re educated.
- Used in pre and post competition.
This technique takes the force off the tissues instead to achieve a release. This is a great technique to be used on clients who are in severe pain, sensitive or frail. This works best when the muscle are tight or in spasm.

A detailed assessment is carried out to see if the shoulders, spine, pelvis, knees and ankles, nerves and muscle are functioning properly. If these are not working to capacity then I will be determine whether it is a genetic issue of something that’s developed due to poor technique.

Trigger points can become active if someone has health problems, injured or under stress. This technique causes the muscles to relax.
Benefits of Trigger point therapy
- Reduce pain and restore normal function of the muscles.
- Increase range of motion, flexibility, strength in the muscle
This is also known as neuromuscular technique.
